About copyright and licensing

All images are owned by the individual photographers contributing to the Rural Scenes image library. The images are protected by international copyright, which makes it illegal to reproduce them anywhere in the world without their owner's permission. That includes their use on the Internet.

The images on this site are embedded with a Digimarc™, a digital water marking technology used to authenticate the copyright ownership of images in print and on the Internet. The technology is owned by the Digimarc Corporation of Oregon USA. Further information on how it operates can be found at their website. (www.digimarc.com)

Should a breach of copyright be discovered, Rural Scenes will bring proceedings to protect its copyright, and reserve the right to do so without notice. Rural Scenes will seek the destruction of all works including infringement of its copyright, as well as full damages.

The screen resolution preview images provided by this site are intended only for "in house" use, typically for placing into page layouts to evaluate their suitability for a particular project. They may not be reproduced in other ways without our permission.

When we negotiate the sale of reproduction rights in a particular image, we do so on the basis of specific uses of the image, e.g., in a brochure, a magazine or newspaper advertisement, a poster, billboard, product label, website image, etc. Rural Scenes otherwise reserves ownership of copyright.

Limitations apply to the size of the reproduction, the print runs, the territories where the images will appear and the duration of their appearance. These limitations are detailed in licensing agreements we enter into with our clients. Any additional uses need to be negotiated. Use beyond what is licensed will constitute an infringement of copyright.

For any further information concerning the copyright please contact our office.
